There are several options to consider when deciding on a sink for your project. In solid surface countertops it is quiet common to have a solid surface sink. This application provides a seamless transistion between the sink and the countertop as shown in the photos. There is no lip to collect dirt and is completely waterproof.
Stainless steel undermount sinks are also popular in solid surface countertops and is often used with darker color countertops. The stainless steel undermount is also the preferred choice when using a stone product such as granite.
Most laminate countertops use a top mount stainless steel or top mount porcelin sink. I have just recently begun to install undermount karran sinks in laminate and I'm very pleased with the results. This makes a seamless transition in the laminate much seen in the higher cost solid surface counter. The karran sink is a solid surface veneer over a fiberglass backing. It's a very nice upgrade for a laminate counter and the karran line is a high quality sink.
Generally I provide all solid surface sinks and offer several manufacturers, sizes, and colors to choose from.
If you are considering a stainless steel or porcelain sink I will ask that you purchase it. Most home stores carry or can order many styles and sizes.
